Gyutan Tsukasa

I rarely venture outside of Los Angeles for a meal unless it’s crazy good, because let’s face it, it’s tough going places with a fussy two-year-old.  But last weekend we were adventurous and traveled down to Orange County just to eat the grilled beef tongue at Gyutan Tsukasa.  It’s my favorite place for beef tongue, and yes, it is crazy good!  Gyutan Tsukasa is located inside the Mitsuwa Marketplace in Costa Mesa, they specialize in beef tongue and that’s the only thing they serve.  I ordered the Gyutan Set which comes with 12 pieces of perfectly charcoal grilled beef tongue, barley rice, and ox tail soup which was also delicious.  The meat was well seasoned and very tender, it was so good that I kept wanting more after each piece I ate even after they were all gone.  I dream of the day they open a location in Los Angeles.
