I’m a huge fan of spicy food so I’m always down to try restaurants that can pack some heavy heat into their dishes. MIAN is a Chinese restaurant located in San Gabriel that specializes in Sichuan cuisine, particularly Chongqing noodles. They are actually the sister restaurant to the popular Chengdu Taste in Alhambra, one of the original Sichuan spicy restaurants in the SGV. The majority of dishes on the MIAN menu are mouth-numbing spicy so I don’t recommend it to those who can’t handle the heat, but for those who can, this place is absolutely delicious! The handmade noodles are cooked perfectly and the savory meat sauce that dresses the noodles is super tasty. I can’t wait to go back and try all the other noodle dishes.
Steamed egg & minced pork ($2.99) – this appetizer was the only non-spicy dish that we ordered and it was amazing! The egg was silky smooth and the minced pork on top was savory and full of flavor.
Chengdu ZaJiang noodles ($8.99) – the noodles are a lot spicier than it looks in this photo. We asked for medium heat and it was actually very spicy, but also very good! I love zajiang noodles and it was an added plus with the fried egg on top.
Spicy pork dumplings ($8.99) – noodles are definitely the specialty at MIAN, but these spicy pork dumplings were the highlight of my meal. They were drenched in a sweet spicy sauce and the pork was super juicy and flavorful.
